Diary of an Edinburgher

A fun day

What a nice day! Quite warm and summery, eventually. Archie went out with Elizabeth, as usual on a Saturday, and so we went out for lunch to a not-dog-friendly cafe. Which one?

We decided to go to a local Japanese restaurant. We've been there ages ago, but must have chosen the wrong dishes and weren’t impressed. But it's won many awards, so obviously we were wrong! And it's handy - just across the Links.

And this time we chose the right things and very much enjoyed our meal. Well, with tempura Tiger Prawns, how could you not? And a selection of freshly made sushi. It was soooo tasty. Though JR, at the last minute, decided to finish off the wasabi. I wish I’d had the camera ready!

We declined dessert, but wandered further up the road, and came upon a wee French patisserie. Perfect! An excellent flat white (no extra charge for soya milk) and we shared the most divine custard flan. And the young chap spoke French, looked French, with local French radio on. I find the radio prattling in French most acceptable (but hate the prattlings of local radio). We almost thought we were in Paris... A most pleasant day out.

I forgot that the Wales/Ireland rugby match was on at 1.30, so arrived home too late to watch it. But Lo! I had recorded it and forgotten I’d done that last night. Sometimes I surprise myself.

We then popped across to visit our neighbour for drinkies and excellent nibbles (Extra] and a most pleasant evening was had. Archie stayed home with his old bone stuffed with peanut butter. We're just back in time to watch the women's tennis final. What a grand day.
