Diary of an Edinburgher

A day in the car...

Sunshine! Becky and Daniel came to pick up Archie for a lovely walk in the park. They'd been to the Porty Art Walk yesterday, and it was on today again, we decided to go. Wrong choice!

On Sundays, Queen's Park is closed to traffic (pointlessly, IMO) which means that all the traffic is bumper to bumper everywhere else. So a journey that should have taken 20 minutes took about an hour!! It was far too long for Archie, though most of the time we were just sitting still, and he seemed fine, taking an interest in all that was going on outside, but he had a wee vomit when he got out.

We had a wander round some of the 'art houses' - more for a wee nosey inside the houses than for the art work, to be honest. But the caravan with the good coffee and the beach soon beckoned.

Then we faced the slow drive home. No easy way, but we chose a different route, and what with heavy traffic, road closures and detours, it wasn’t only Archie who was sighing and wishing it was all over.

In fact, coming over George 1V Bridge, Archie was looking very unhappy, so we pulled in, and JR walked home over the Meadows with him while I drove home. Remind me never to drive across the city on a sunny Sunday again!
