Azuma???

So I received an email which invited me to go to Darlington Station between 7 and 11am today to see the amazing new Azuma train. Or at least that's what I, and a lot more people, thought it said. As we use this line a lot we thought we would go across and see it. Except when we got there at 10am . . . no Azuma. Apparently it had gone through at 8am and was not due to return until 8pm. I felt sorry for these lovely girls, who were giving out goody bags, and having to explain over and over again why the train wasn't actually there. I then had a word with the Management, but nice as they were they were, they could obviously do nothing about it except say it was a badly worded email.

Anyway the two girls posed nicely, the grandchildren will like the goodies and an email of complaint has been sent!

Actually the main mission today was for me to spend some time in my home county on Yorkshire Day, but that plan went awry as we realised that the bit of North Yorkshire we wanted to go to was the bit that was flooded - so that wasn't a good idea.

In the end we went to pick more broad beans and strawberries - in Yorkshire - just. And we went to visit Egglestone Abbey - in Yorkshire - just. (See Extra) Another of those places we have passed by so many times and never been to. What lovely, tranquil ruins they are too. We will return, perhaps doing the popular walk from Barnard Castle.

And we managed pizza at our favourite cafe on the A66. And it turned into quite a nice day with no rain. And we discovered that Majestic Wine Shops are not being closed after all.
