A griffin, a tree, a mitten, and a lot of panting
Return home this morning, after a very enjoyable afternoon and evening yesterday. A montage:
1. We stayed with a friend in a flat at Gray’s Inn. One of the four Inns of Court, it’s symbol is the Griffon. And there are Griffons everywhere you look. The real Gryffindor.
2. We ambled through the backstreets to Euston. We love walking through London, there is just so much to see. The Brunswick Plane is one of London’s “Great Trees”. It is huge, and unlike others has not been lopped or pruned so it’s great branches sweep down to just a few feet off the ground.
3. London’s smallest sculpture. This little mitten by Tracy Emin sits behind the statue of Thomas Coram, founder of the Foundling Hospital. The Foundling Museum now celebrates his legacy
4. Heading from Euston, J commented that the Pendelino train seemed to be having problems with the air conditioning, it sounded like a panting dog. Sitting by the aisle I was able to explain that that might be because there was indeed a panting dog.
