Korimake - Bellbird

On my way to Nelson today I stopped again at the Kawatiri walkway - mostly because I needed to use the loo there. Seeing I was there I thought I might as well wander into the track again just to see if there were any new fern fronds to photograph. I'd been thinking while driving about Christmas and birth which made me (naturally) think about the koru symbol and its meanings, so it seemed right to blip one today.

I did find a few fronds that perfectly fitted my idea, and I did photograph them, but I also photographed this baby bellbird (korimako). He sat in the tree right above my head and squeaked constantly for Mummy and Daddy to bring him food - but they wouldn't come near because I was there. I snapped off a few photos and then moved away to watch them feeding him. I took a few more photos of that but from further away the light was all wrong.

So I'm blipping the idea of the continuation of life today, rather than birth itself. Ah well, my fondness for them means I've blipped plenty of fern fronds over my last 800 odd blips. Mind you, I'll admit to having blipped a few bellbirds too - but I never can resist a bird opportunity.
