Give A Dog A Bone

My Dear Princess & Dear Fellows,

Tiggydog's favourite game is ""Slaver Ball", wherein he confronts his inner doggy conflict:

a) That he REALLY REALLY wants you to throw a tennis ball for him
b) But, on the other hand, this means DROPPING said tennis ball, which he  CANNOT EVEN CONTEMPLATE

So the game consists of a little doggy person attempting to shove the ball into your hand, but when you grab it, he refuses to let go. He then wrestles the ball from your hand, which is not difficult considering that the ball (and your hand) are now covered in slaver.

I've tried explaining the mechanics of ball-throwing to him. That, in order for me to THROW the ball, he must first LET GO of the ball.

"No, but really," he replies. "Jussffft take ve ball ou' of my mouf. I promiffe I'll let go thiff time."

Grab. Squelch. No ball. Victorious dog. And then we go again.

So earlier in the week I bought him a squeaky bone which has now lost its squeak and instead emits wet, squelchy fart noises instead. I have taught him that it is MUCH MORE FUN to play "Slaver Farty Bone" as at least I can get a decent grip on it and we can have a ludicrous tug-of-war over it. He seems happy.

And here he is, rolling around and taunting me with his newly-won farty bone. Isn't he the cutest thing?

In other news, we went to visit Dani & The Cop for dinner. As usual they were excellent hosts and The Cop cooked so much meat on the barbecue that I worried we were putting "cows" onto the endangered species list. I always enjoy going to see them. They are a really good laugh and you get to hear cop stories, while Dani makes sarky comments.

And what was lovely about last evening was that The Cop brought out a bottle of Bowmore that I'd bought him last year.

"I don't drink this with anyone but you," he said. And we clinked our glasses and thought of the whisky club in Leith. I've promised him I'll set up a new whisky club in our living room in Wellington.

Now it is the Morning After and I'm feeling Morning After-ey. I have taken two Panadol and am wearing a "Cool & Soothe" migraine patch.

Totally worth it.

S.

p.s. As a wee EMP extra, I include a picture of Dani & The Cop's new kitten and their wee Yorkie Tink, with a cute little bow in her hair. That's got to be worth a star, right EMP?
