Diary of an Edinburgher

New hat!

I bought my hat the summer I retired, ie more than 8 years ago, and it has hardly been off my head since, even in Scottish summers. It's very faded, has been washed and shrunk, had the buttons chewed off (Archie) and sewn on (me) several times, but it's still good as new (though not according to JR). It will become my gym headgear for when the air con is too vicious.

I wanted to go to our favourite shop in Perthshire to buy a new one, but it was never convenient, so I did it online. It arrived today! It's the darker (ie less faded) one. I showed it to Archie and warned him NOT to touch it, even if I happened to leave it on the sofa.

The visitors had a bonus half day at the National Gallery, and we delivered their bags to them at the railway station on the way to take Archie out for a walk. We had intended going through the Park for a change, but (for the first time ever) I forgot my camera (phone), so I didn’t want to go there in case I missed a really good photo. We went up the hill as usual, and JR and Archie walked home.

PS Yes, I did go to the gym.
