Diary of an Edinburgher

Lunch vs Movie

Gym, then flu jabs for both of us. Jordan took Archie out and they (he) saw a sparrow hawk. But no wax wings yet.

A dark windy day, with the possibility of rain at some point. An ideal afternoon for the movies, especially as Archie had already had a big walk, he could be left at home. 'Bohemian Rhapsody' was the only film on that was vaguely tempting, but we were both sort of luke warm... The price of £10 each - ie £20 - was the deciding factor. No way! We'd rather spend that sort of money on lunch.

And so we set off to a newish (dog friendly) vegan restaurant in Bruntsfield that we'd visited before. But this time we chose well. We both had delicious meals! And if we hadn’t shared an amazing dessert, it would have been less than a visit to the cinema. Much better use of £20.

Whenever we begin to leave a cafe, we have to do it swiftly - Archie gets very excited and starts barking when he sees some action at last. He has a wee habit of grabbing the edge of my coat, growling and tugging to hurry me up - endearing behaviour in the hall at home, but not so appropriate in the middle of a restaurant.

As Archie and I walked home (JR stayed to browse the shops) he suddenly stopped and refused to move (which he does quite often when he wants to have a sniff at something). He seemed to be looking at a big grey car, but as he'd already had a good sniff around a car with a view to piddling on the wheels, I dragged him on. There was somebody in the driver's seat, texting. A little further up the road, the big grey car pulled in - and the driver was Elizabeth! She'd parked the car there, and had just got in before we arrived (she hadn’t seen us). Archie must have just smelt her, I’m sure he can’t recognise cars. Clever boy!
