jeni and the beans

Nappy fluff and chunky baby legs

We were up sooo late this morning. So late that I drove to tots so that the boys could have more than just half an hour's playtime... They had a blast! Ben is learning that the same no running indoors rule needs to apply to tots as well as preschool but he still manages to pack loads in. Today he was a fireman complete with vis jacket, smoke mask and helmet.

Charley discovered the slide.

Ok so it's only as tall as he is but it still required 100% attention from me. He's learning to climb the steps, turn around at the top, and slide down on his tummy. For now, that'll suffice. He can learn other methods later!

Home, where Charley fell asleep on me for two hours. He was so tired he could barely endure his nappy being changed, and putting trousers back on just was out of the question...

The afternoon was... oh it was all over the place! I thought Charley had a play session at Ben's preschool at 2pm, and I thought that was roughly when Ben's playdate was coming round. Then I realised Ben's playdate was after school, and discovered (on walking down to the preschool) that Charley's play session wasn't until 3.15pm either.

So Steve took Charley, and I stayed in with Ben and he played with Joshua and I drank tea with Monica. Charley at his heuristic play session apparently found a cake slice and a pair of tongs and wandered around gently knocking them together. He liked the sound. He kept trying out other items but always went back to the cake slice and tongs. Ben and Joshua played with cars.

Dinner was amazing. We had leftover potato dauphinoise and ended up making a casserole to go with it. The smell taunted me as I put Ben to bed. And by the time I got downstairs I wanted to make biscuit to go with it. Mmmmmm. It was good.
