Diary of an Edinburgher

Horses!

Elizabeth came to take Archie out today, so after he'd skipped off, we set off into town to see the 'Riding of the Marches' - up the Royal Mile. We didn’t want to stand around too long listening to brass bands, so we went down (actually, UP) Advocate's Close and popped into the Devil's Advocate for a quiet wine.

When we returned to the thronging High Street, the horses were just about to arrive. 280 of 'em - all sorts - big ones (with wee girls on them), little ones (with big men on them), ones with hairy legs like Clydesdales and ones like Arab stallions. Most of them had been riding all day, but some of the wee ones may have joined them in the city. Great fun for them.

I then took the bus home, while JR and Wendy walked through the Grassmarket and then home, and I arrived only a few minutes before them, the buses being somewhat erratic.

Janet and Bailey popped round this morning - much doggie excitement. She is getting a new iPhone. So... yes... I have to as well. We’re both in an upgrade scheme, so it would be churlish not to...
