Diary of an Edinburgher

Lunch!

After two gym sessions in the morning, Archie went off up the hill with Elizabeth, and we went off into town for lunch at a dogs-not-welcome restaurant. JR spied one with a catchy name - The Kilted Lobster - and it had good reviews, so I booked it. Needn't have, as after two Americans left, it was just us and the waiter there. And the chef. Oddly, they close at 2.30 on a Saturday.

And what a good chef he was too. The meal was delicious. Started with little complimentary canapés, then we both had scallops and a fish cake for entrée. There were five - FIVE - scallops! Usually you only get three for an entrée. I then had half a lobster, while JR had a hake fillet. Both meals superb.

I really should have stopped there, but we accidentally looked at the dessert menu, and I spied something I don't see very often, and when I do, it's irresistible - clootie dumpling!

But alas, while it was nice, it wasn't like my old mum's clootie dumpling.

Back home in time to do yet another edit of the holiday video before Archie came charging in, running from room to room, in a high state of excitement after his big walk. What a boy!

JR was trying to chat to a couple of locals, but didn't get much sense from them.

All Blacks v Springboks 57-0!! No chance of SA relaxing those tricky Kiwi visas any time soon after that thrashing!
