Welcome Funding

Delighted to hear that Romsey’s Plaza theatre has received a grant from the Theatres Trust to fund a new stairlift.

The striking building just off the town centre has been home to the Romsey Operatic and Dramatic Society — RAODS for short — for 36 years. Originally it was a cinema, dating back to the 1930s, but closed as a cinema in the 1970s.

The grant of £5,000 from the Theatres Trust is part of £22,500 in grants from the UK Theatres Small Grants Scheme awarded to theatres in Alnwick, Dundee, Oswaldtwistle and Peterborough as well as the Romsey Plaza

Jon Morgan, Director at the Theatres Trust said: “Theatres large and small need support to keep their buildings operational. Thanks to our funders we can help keep these theatres open, their audiences comfortable and the performances accessible.
