Oasis in the Forest

Back to the water again today, although this time a pond in the countryside rather than coastal waters. Welcome to Sturtmoor Pond on Plaitford Common in the New Forest National Park.
I really don’t know how it got its name, but it is a popular oasis on the common and providing you are prepared to walk for some considerable distance across heathland, a picturesque picnic spot.
What struck me today was the late afternoon lighting which produced startling reflections in the water.
There were no picnics between the at times heavy showers this time, but an occasional dog walker was on hand and I saw a horse rider pass by.
But it is a truly tranquil  spot and although well off the beaten track is well worth seeking out this hideway.
For me, walking is part of a daily routine so it is always rewarding to return to this spot.
