Comma

When picking food for my yellow tail larvae I found two other tiny larvae on the leaves, one was a Vapourer blipped on July 24th and the other rather boring black and white striped jobby has turned into this rather spectacular Comma larva.
The Comma Polygonia c-album is a common butterfly in these parts although I must confess I have never seen them in my garden where I found this larva!
The larvae protect themselves by doing a passable impression of a bird dropping - see extra, and are actually quite difficult to find.
