Oot The Windae

My Dear Princess & Dear Fellows,

So this is the street directly outside our flat. I do love the trees and the light outside.

And what the picture doesn't convey is the sound of noisy chattering tuis which is also very pleasant. They have a wide vocabulary and what I at first thought was lots of different birds with different calls is actually all the same one.

The tui is kind of like the Mike Yardwood of birds, putting on different hats and beards and saying, "And now I'm a parrot... and now I'm a budgie... and this is Tommy Cooper, jus' like that... jus' like that..."

Cazza and me have both had a low-energy, low-effort sort of day. I could attempt to blame this on the weather but that would be a total lie. In fact it was beautiful and sunny today, not hot, but not cold either.

It occurs to me that there's not that much difference between seasons in NZ. This was after I was talking to Lemon and she said, "It's so CUTE how you refer to 'Autumn' and 'Winter'... is it really that different in Scotland?"

I explained that it was. And she said that NZ is like, "Four Seasons in One Day". I do not know if Crowded House coined that phrase or whether it precedes the song.

In other news, Cazza has rediscovered "Still Game" in a big way. It's funny because I thought I was the only one homesick, but she is loving the accents and the swearing. She has taken to going around the flat telling me to, "Stop talking pussh!" and telling Jasper he's getting "hee-haw" from the kitchen if he doesn't "haud yer wheesht".

I just called her a "tube" and she just about shat herself laughing. Homesickness manifests itself in weird ways.

S.

p.s. Princess, I think you might like this; it combines three of your favourite things, World War II history, Buster Bluth and drinking.
