Milan Street treats

We queued for over an hour in the cold today to go into the Duomo, (Milan Cathedral) and it was just disappointing.
The building was huge, it's the 3rd or 4th largest cathedral in the world, depending on whether protestant St Pauls in London is included. Very old - 13th century, beautiful vaulting and statues and huge colourful stained glass but it just didn't feel like a house of God to me.
It wasn't helped by my being unable to hire an audio guide because I didn't have my passport with me! There are next to no information signs anywhere so we just had to guess. They didn't say anywhere on the website that you needed ID with you.... another mump.
We came out to the end of a grey morning and found this chestnut seller doing a roaring trade.
I do miss roasting chestnuts on our open fire.
