Pompeii

To the fantastic Roman city of Pompeii, on a lovely warm day. It was a real pain getting there by car from Sorrento, because of heavy traffic and erratic sat nav performance. We had one supplied by the car rental company and two on my phone. Each gave a completely different and wrong route.  We made it by luck after a two hour journey that should have been less than one. First world problems eh?

It was worth the hassle for:

some fine views of Vesuvius,, without which Pompeii would just be a shabby suburb of Napoli:
very colourful, well-preserved rooms;
views through ancient windows;
more excellent interiors;
the world's first Hammond organ;
poignant preserved bodies, including one brave soul who managed to balance a ball on his head, whilst being overcome by the pyroclastic flow.
