On A1 at Newark
A long, long day. Left Kent 10.00am, arrived Edinburgh 20.15. Traffic up to Grantham diabolical, we thought we were never going to get here.
Big accident on A1(M) at Colsterworth going south, 5 trucks strewn across the carriageway. Three miles of trapped traffic and later on miles of traffic being diverted off the road away from the scene.
After Grantham a whole lot better. The A66 behaved itself and M6, M74. The last hour to Balerno was challenging. Lots of snow, temperatures down to -9.5c in places, a sat nav that took us an interesting way. Hazardous at the end of a long drive but beautiful too with snow on the trees and the Hills ghostly white.
This shot was taken at Newark as we moved at speed past the gravel pits on the banks of the River Trent. Probably would not stand up to any detailed scrutiny but I liked it.
