The Noses Keep Growing

Watching Obama and Romney 'debating' on TV the other night reminded me of Pinocchio - although which has the longest nose is hard to gauge.

Who would I like to win? Obama, by a nose! Not because he has many redeeming qualities, but I've seen what happened in Britain at the last election: New Labour under Blair were crap, but Cameron's mob are indescribable. I fear a similar disaster for the United States. And if Romney and the maniac right win, we'll all suffer . . .

Perhaps future voters should take note of a very relevant quote from the 1940 Disney film of Pinocchio: "Whether we have a lesson more or a lesson less, we shall remain the same donkeys."

Enough said, except that the Pinocchio in this image came from New Zealand. Jools packed it in her suitcase with the rest of her clutter. The result was predictable: For the next three years the strings of the marionette were a tangled mess. Then an artist friend came for supper. She looked at Pinocchio, sat him on her knee and five minutes later, the strings were fixed and he was marching proudly across the table.

The moral? America's donkeys should elect a lady artist as leader; but make sure she's not called Hillary . . .
