Rufus!
I opened the door this morning to take Archie round the block, and who should be on the step but Rufus and his mum. I knew they were coming, of course. Rufus was visiting us while his mum went off into town.
Archie preferred sitting on my knee looking down at Rufus on the floor, but at one point we were all on the sofa, Rufus on my knee, gazing out at the gate from whence his mum had abandoned him. The back of his head is almost as cute as the front.(Extra)
Before Annet came to take Archie out, I gave him quick whizz over with the clippers. He gave her an enthusiastic welcome, nearly knocking her over as she knelt down on the path. They went to the Links with his giant frisbee.
JR went with Rufus and his mum for a wee walk to inspect a craft fair, I think. Even though there would probably be food and/or drink, (sure enough, I got photos of a great new cafe - good coffee, quiet jazz, big pastries) I declined - a) my toe was too sore for walking far, b) I was in the mood to patch up the bathroom window with wood filler before painting, c) I didn’t know how long Annet would take Archie out for.
In fact, the window filling didn’t take long, and I then got myself organised on the sofa, with my new audiobook, and a half bar of chocolate I’d squirrelled away for emergencies. I'm enjoying it (The Children Act by Ian McEwan) though I have great difficulty staying awake for more than ten minutes. So I’ll have re-listen to the chapter again this evening. It takes me twice as long to read a book.
Quite nippy tonight. Might need to lget the fire organised soon. And get the winter duvet on.
