Diary of an Edinburgher

Beach! Bacon bap!

A slight headache this morning was enough for me to excuse myself from a gym visit, but as the day grew more and more promising, I was enthused enough to rise and ready myself for an adventure.

We decided to go to the beach, even though it's still half term, and it could be teeming with children, but a) it's not far, and b) there's a big choice of comestibles, for humans and dogs.

And what a glorious day it was! No wind, not many people (there's plenty of room for everyone anyway) and warm sunshine. JR even had to take her jacket off.

We had the obligatory coffee and bacon bap at the caravan, and Archie had a liver muffin. There were three dogs sitting along that wall, each of them at a table and watching their humans very very carefully.

There were several people swimming (in wet suits), following the shore right along. It looked quite enticing. We walked right along to the scene of my last ever school trip (and we had a sunny day!) then came back and I had a big ice cream. Amongst all the many dogs, we met two basset hounds (don’t see many of them around), Norman and Frank.

I caught up with my pal Betty and her wee rescue dog Maisie. She was enjoying a bottle of red wine (and the most delicious looking chips) with a couple of pals at one of the many outdoor cafes.

Back home, and Rufus and his mum popped in for a cuppa on their afternoon walk, though I suspect Christine was just putting off defrosting the fridge for a wee while longer.

After they'd gone, funnily enough, it wasn’t just Archie who had a wee snooze. A grand day out.
