In Search of Poldark

We decided on a visit to Holywell Beach near Newquay for a walk this morning. The surf was definitely up but there were no takers just dogs and their owners enjoying the wide expanse of sand and dunes. This was a location in the TV series Poldark but although there was reports of filming taking place in Cornwall there was no sign today.

We then travelled to Chapel Porth beach to have a walk along the coastal path to Wheal Coates. Another mine teetering on the edge of cliffs. It too had been used as a location in Poldark.

We finished off the day with a visit to Godolphin House. In order to help fund the renovations it is rented out as a holiday home and Wedding venue. It was an interesting juxtaposition of modern facilities required by holiday makers and historic features. A dilemma the National Trust are keen to explain and justify.

Only one day left before we return home. Have really enjoyed our visit.
