A Trip to the Theatre

We travelled to Scarborough this evening for the first night of an Alan Ayckbourn’s play ‘ Better off Dead”. This was Richard’s choice. I think the strap line “A comedy of confusion about a grumpy old man who might not be so grumpy after all” caught his attention. Stephen and Thomas joined us and helped to bring down the average age of the audience by a year or two!

The performance was at the Stephen Joseph Theatre which is a theatre in the round. A small but intimate theatre where you feel part of the action. However, the couple in the front row may revise that as they were splashed by one of the actors being a bit vigorous with a kick to a bench where his beer glass was positioned.

An enjoyable evening out. Well written and the main character, who was on stage throughout, was excellent.
