Heaven is a bookshop

My heaven would look like this. A cosy bookshop on the top of a hill, full of books, vinyl, rugs, neon lights, fresh coffee and open fire places. Not to mention the model trains that run along the shelves. In other words, Barter's Books in Alnwick which we visited today.

I bought a book about Jackie Kennedy. And a Barter's Books bookmark. If there had been a giant comedy pencil with a rubber on the end (file under holiday souvenirs of yesteryear), I probably would have bought that too! So deep was my love for this place.

Barters was the highlight in an otherwise dreary day. It rained incessantly (again) and Audrey is still out of sorts. Being very sick and screaming. Yep we're back on that page after a short sojourn when it looked as though Chuckles was here to stay.

It makes being on holiday slightly depressing. Especially her screaming fits and sleepless nights. We are both very weary.

Really wanted to show my husband Northumberland at its best too but the weather has let me down on that front. It has been damp tea shops and cagoules instead.

One day left tomorrow. Hope it's a better one both weather and Audrey-wise.
