Beautiful Bamburgh

Over twenty years ago I came to Bamburgh on holiday with my Mum, Dad and sisters. Today I came back with my own family. So strange! But wonderful too.

The sight of Bamburgh castle sat majestically on the hill as you turn the corner on the coast road literally takes your breath away. I loved showing it to my husband for the first time. We ate fish and chips washed down with cups of tea and took Audrey for a walk on a windswept beach in our wellies.

She was much better today. Laughing her head off in the car while I played with her favourite lion toy Logan to amuse her on the journey.

Last night my husband let me sleep in one of the other bedrooms in the cottage we're staying in so that she didn't wake me. The sleep felt decadent but left me drowsy (typical). Tonight I'm returning the favour for him as he has the long drive home to do tomorrow.

We've had a much better day today, singing along to The Beatles in the car and watching the DVD boxset of Breaking Bad that we brought with us.

It's my birthday (and wedding anniversary) tomorrow but we'll be on the road most of the day so we treated today like it was my birthday instead. And I can't think of anywhere I would rather have been than Bamburgh beach, so that worked out well....
