Surprises

Today was a day of surprises for Katie (hence the extras today!). We have been telling her that she was spending the day at the library teaching cousin Tom to read. She knew this wasn't true but didn't know the truth. We managed to get the entire drive to Legoland without her discovering- due in part to the towel that went over her head for the last half mile as we drove up their drive! She only discovered where we were as she saw the main entrance after we had parked. Her face was fabulous! We had an amazing day, it was so appropriate for her age, her likes.

We walked round miniature world before the park officially opened and then she got to see the opening show and the park opening ceremony. She and Tom went on the fire truck ride and she went to the driving school, getting her lego driving licence. We arrived to Heartlake City just in time for the Lego friends show, to her delight. She even got to meet all the friends afterwards and have photos with them. She loved exploring heartlake city and finding the lego models of the friends and Olivia's house, complete with display of the most incredible friends lego. We picknicked on the train ride, she patted lego horse and cat.

After lunch, we joined the queue for the log flume and spent an hour waiting. It was great though. We'd decided to do all the water rides in one go so headed to the river Rapids. They were a bit rubbish! She wanted to play in the Drench Towers. That most definitely was not rubbish! She had a fantastic time and we could well have spent an entire afternoon in the two huge areas there alone. When she had changed outfit, we went to drive the boats. We walked up to the discovery centre and played Lego for a while. She built a turtle for their turtle project about protecting them and got her first pop badge for her lanyard. Our final stop in Legoland was the Star Wars exhibition. We'd only agreed to go as she begged, we didn't expect anything like it. It was huge and thoroughly brilliant. As a Star Wars fan, I am very glad she insisted we see it. She "fought" Darth Vader, explorer Tatooine, posed with Yoda and Chewy; it really was excellent. Our day totally flew by and it felt like we only scratched the surface.

Tom drove us into Windsor then. She loved seeing Windsor Castle. It's definitely somewhere I would like to explore properly. We caught a train into London ready for the evenings surprise - theatre tickets to see Annie! A great end to a brilliant day!
