Record Heat

Southern California is experiencing record heat, 40º Celsius/104º Fahrenheit at the airport when we arrived yesterday, so of course everyone heads to the beach. The beach fronting Bay Shore Avenue was packed as we walked from our delightful VRBO rental on the Peninsula to Belmont Shore for wine tasting with our now 21-year old daughter. I like the fact that all manner of chairs are brought to the beach, including the plush blue lounge chair in the foreground of this photo, to enjoy the sun. I can't imagine sitting on the blue chair, especially during record heat, but I can clearly see it has sand on it, so I know someone used it.
