Damage Report

Tropical Storm Manuel did not make land near us as had been predicted and has moved up the coast to threaten some other city, but not before doing quite a bit of damage at our end of Playa La Ropa. The combination of rain and wind knocked trees down, like this one across the main thoroughfare to the beach just around the corner from our condo, ripped off roofs, and brought rocks and mud out of the hillsides and onto the roads throughout town. We heard stories of water halfway up car doors and roads that were impassable. Our power stayed on (mostly), but the internet was knocked out until Tuesday in town and is still out Thursday (as I post these photos) at our condo. It is scary how reliant we have become on the internet. We have attempted to make do, but this morning (Thursday again) we were forced to come into town for breakfast to get our internet fix.
