Seals on Westray
This morning I walked down to see the famous Ancient Monument on Papa Westray, the Knap of Howar, a Neolithic farmstead ( see extra) and then Nick and I set off to walk to the pier for our ferry back to Westray.
Unfortunately it wasn't a day like yesterday- in fact it was dreich! We chatted on the ferry with a nice couple from Christchurch New Zealand , the only other passengers.
Back to our cottage in Westray for another 2 nights before we head back via Kirkwall to the Scottish mainland - another 2 ferry journeys.
There are large numbers of seals in the seas around Orkney and this group were hauled out on the rocks at Pierowall.
