A few ticks!

I don't often chose blip subjects from work but today I was presented with a spaniel for a booster vaccination and the poor lady owner was horrified when I showed her some very plump ticks attached to her hairy dog.
I took off 6 but while I was giving the dog its booster one of them crawled off the work top and I accidentally stood on it - messy! 
 Needless to say she left with tick treatment /prevention medication.

I don't know whether it is the fact that the adults have 8 legs that makes a lot of people find them scary - we are fairly fortunate that in the UK we don't have some of the really nasty tick borne diseases seen in other countries, although we do have some - at least not many in dogs but here in Scotland the farm animals in some areas do suffer a few diseases from ticks.
