Sea Pinks at Schull, West Cork 2

Another sunny day although the air still quite chilly when we our attentive hosts picked us up and gave us a grand tour of the nooks and inlets to the west of Skibbereen. We passed through villages with names that rolled off the tongue in a totally unfamiliar way, Ballydehob with its row of painted houses climbing the Main Street, Schull with its little Sunday market, Crookhaven where we sat at the water's edge drinking a beer, Mizen Head, the most south westerly point of Ireland, where we joined the crowds and enjoyed ice creams, Barley Cove with its stretches of golden sand, Baltimore with its fiddle festival in full swing, and Castletownshend with its imposing Protestant church.

There was so much to see, but what sticks in my mind are the colourful painted houses and the sparkling sea round every corner.
