Garinish Island, Bantry Bay, West Cork 3
The continental weather continues to bless this part of West Cork, when sunny skies and a temperature of 20 degrees wooed us and our hosts to Bantry for coffee and to collect provisions for a picnic which we ate in the gardens of the island of Garinish, reached by a small Ferry from Glengarriff on Bantry Bay.
This is a perfect little island boasting a Martello Tower and formal Italian Gardens. It also has a walled garden and grounds like a miniature botanical garden.
On our return back in the Ferry we glided past seals sunning themselves on rocks and seemingly unfazed by humans wielding cameras.
And so home via The Sheeps Head peninsula, passing at some point Ahakista, the home of Graham Norton, conspicuous by his absence today, and a tussle with an almost non existent WiFi in our overnight accommodation.
