Working Together

The Venice Rookery is 40 miles from our condo, and it took me an hour to get there. It is a small island in a small pond, and it is filled with bird nests. So many...that it is hard to get a picture of a single nest, without including another bird.

It is both fun and frustrating for me. Fun to watch the nest building, to see some bird youngsters (two of which were days old), and to watch the photographers. Frustrating in that my 300mm lens is just not enough. I NEED MORE LENS, and...I HAVE LENS ENVY!!

I stayed for almost 4 hours, until my back starting hurting. (I can see why some people bring those tiny little chairs.)

P.S. I might have to go back before I head North. This nest of the building couple is the closest to the shore, and might be REAL interesting with a couple of baby herons in it.
