Diary of an Edinburgher

Jersey Day Four

What a day of excitement! The Jersey Air Show was on this afternoon. We took a picnic and went to a vantage point over the bay to watch it. Unfortunately, the whole population of Jersey who weren't at seafront in town were already there with their campervans and deckchairs. But we did get a park nearby, and grabbed a bench too.

The aeroplanes swooped low over the town beach where most of the crowds were, but swept all around over us. In fact, one of the French 'Red Arrows' suddenly swooped really really low over us, with such a roar, that we all ducked.

I had a chat to a lady who remembers the sound of the Lancaster Bomber, and loves it. She was four and lived in Plymouth, which was heavily bombed during the war, so that sound was welcome, because it wasn't the enemy bomber.

We left before the finale - the Red Arrows - because Bob had an evening squash match, but we'd seen the French equivalent. And anyway, we could see them from the house! In fact, one of them suddenly roared over the roof of the house. Wow!

Had to add in the shot of JR with the gorgeous wee new leather bag she accidentally bought at the exclusive de Gruchy evening last night.

Archie has had a lovely day, too. He's really made himself at home in Rufus's house. We've had a couple of photos and lots of messages, and he's been out on a play date with Bailey.
