People at Work #15 : : Lifeguards

Every summer, defined here as Memorial Day to Labor Day, the swimming lagoon at Spring Lake is open for swimming, the tall lifeguard chairs are occupied by very fit, young lifeguards. This year a new feature appeared. Called  Waterpark it is a series of blow up slides, trampolines and obstacles. A surprising number of kids' parents are willing to pay $10 each for their offspring to disappear into the maze for the better part of a day, The parents set up chairs, commandeer picnic tables, get out the steaks and hamburgers and open the beer while the lifeguards supervise the melee in the waterpark. Everybody has a great time.

But somebody has to tidy up….

We'll be convening at Dana and Jim's house for dinner tonight where we'll share the homemade  pasta sauces, admire Dana's latest garden project  and make fun of OilMan's new violet colored shirt from Lagunitas brewery which he and Matt visited today.  You have to be deft to manage wine tasting one day and brewery tours the next….
