A Surprise Visit

It seemed appropriate to post this picture because I feel I could just sit and stare into space for awhile too! We have had a splendid few days with Matt and have been together with Dana and her family quite a bit during the weekend.

Matt had to head for home after lunch so we all went for a walk around Spring Lake this morning, which culminated in  convoluted plans for getting Dana's car key to her so they could drive home and drop off their dogs and we could all meet for coffee sans dogs and non-coffee drinkers. In these days of keyless entry and ignition in cars, the only rule is that the key has to be on your person. Although it is difficult Dana managed to break the rule. Only when they got to the lake and turned off the engine did they realize that they wouldn't be able to start the car again without the key which was back at their house.

We dropped off Will to get the key and take it back to Dana while we went home to drop off Ozzie. When we go there we found  Lindsay, Adisa and Grace, their 9 month old baby waiting for us. They live in Durham North Carolina but are making their first trip to California with Grace. Texts flew back and forth and Dana and Will came to our house and we all had coffee here. (I'm not sure how much Will cared about meeting baby Grace, but he loves spending time with Matt.)

The guys went out for sandwiches and we all spent time getting caught up and taking LOTS of pictures. Everybody disbanded about the time Matt had to leave for the airport, so we stood at the front door hugging everybody goodbye and getting a few last beaming smiles from  Grace. What a delight this surprise visit turned out to be….

Grace has had no internet presence, so I wasn't surprised when Lindsay said she wanted to let Grace be the one to decide whether her picture should appear on social media. But I did have to rush out with my camera and do a semi-emergency blip of a young hummingbird resting on a stem. I may have a solid gold little camera beside my name before Grace decides….
