Ffestiniog railway

After a full cooked breakfast courtesy of Mr J we had an action packed day in the Snowdonia National Park. After a drive through Snowdonia where we had absolutely stunning views of Snowdon itself we went to the Ffestiniog Railway in Portmadog, an old
Steam railway that has been loving restored over the years. The train ride lasted for around an hour and took us right to the heart of Snowdonia to a little slate mining town of Blaenau-Ffestiniog. It was beautiful old town and very Welsh. We had a walk around and found a little post office to send some post cards and then had Ice creams in a 1950's style ice cream parlour. It was soon time to catch the train back. The views were amazing and the kiddies loved every second. P was particularly chuffed when we she handed the guard our tickets and he punched holes in them. A was just in his element for the whole trip and loved going through the tunnels.

Once back in Portmadog we had a sit by the harbour. It was a lovely hot day and was nice to watch the world go by whilst the children played and looked at the boats.

Once we got back to our holiday cottage we got the BBQ fired up and enjoyed games of football and badminton in the garden. We also found a screwball scramble game in the shed and me and mr j were reliving our childhood all evening long!
