On top of the world
After all the traveling yesterday we opted for a lazy day today. The children slept brilliantly and only woke up at 7:15, result! We had a nice lazy breakfast and a few games of snakes & ladders before heading down to the local town of Abergele.
It's a quaint little place with a great busy atmosphere. Mr J spotted an Internet cafe and remarked that he hadn't seen one of them in years! We parked up at the seafront and had a walk along the promenade. There were the usual arcades, beachfront cafes and bucket and spade sellers. We had a play in one arcade and P enjoyed the 2p machines and playing Air hockey with Mr J. We had our picnic on the shingle beach, then made our way further up the coast to to Llandudlo.
Llandudlo is beautiful. I've never been to more quintessentially British seaside resort. It was stunning, the the pier and the Victorian architecture were picture perfect. We didn't hang around in the town (as there was nowhere to park!) but instead made our way up Great Orme. There's a tram line and cable cars that can can take you to the summit but we decided to give the A3 a challenge and drove up the single width road all the way to the top!
The views from the top were breath taking. P said she felt she was on top of the world. We played in the park and enjoyed the massive slide down the side of the hill. We also made P's initials in stones on the hillside along with hundreds of others. Eco friendly graffiti I think?? Poor little A missed the whole adventure and only woke up from his nap when we were due to leave.
We made the perilous drive back down and have a lovely tea in a local pub.
The end.
