Les Portes en Re

Having tired the kids out with yesterday’s ride (roughly 32K but Beck accidentally turned her strava off so we can’t be precise) we had to be a bit cagey about today’s route -suggesting ‘just’ a little jaunt along the coast to Ars en Re and then ‘just’ a bit further to Les Portes en Re (not to mention a ‘well, we’re virtually there already’ little bit extra to the Phare des Baleines at the Western end of the island) – the wheels liberally oiled with promises of cake and ice cream. So we ended up doing about 50K and had to promise them  a ‘rest day’ for Tuesday (Katie, in particular, was suffering from an “achey tailbone.”) That said, our late afternoon jaunt to the World’s Busiest Supermarket (the LeClerc at St. Martin – we took the car to stock up on requisites) was possibly the more exhausting experience…
