Loix

We cycled to Loix, over on the North side of the island, via picturesque salt pans and under a great big sky. We had a picnic lunch on the remote Plage du Grouin and came back via La Flotte, where we had ice creams on the harbourside. Later on Beck and I went for a stroll along the beach which over-extended itself somewhat when we caught sight of a large, grafittied concrete structure (possibly the remains of an Atlantic Wall gun emplacement) protruding from the eroded cliff-face and went to investigate. What with that and a decent headwind on the return leg we were actually pretty knackered by the time we returned to not-overly-concerned offspring (we’ve bought them some wi-fi to keep them quiet.) Further rounds of Old Maid and Crazy 8’s ensued nonetheless…
