St. Martin de Re
As promised, we let Tom have a lie-in whilst the rest of us trooped down to the beach. Unfortunately the weather took a while to get going too today and we cut our trip short, having sat on the sand in a light drizzle and hiked out a mile or so for a paddle in the ice-cold lowtide sea. Luckily things were looking up by the time we roused the boy and set off to La Flotte for lunch. We ate a very nice 2 course menu fixe at La Nautic on the harbour – a very English order of three steak frites and some sardines for the lady – and then cycled over to St. Martin where, despite the tarte tatin, we also ate ice cream and watched the boats coming and going. When we got back to camp it was finally warm enough to head back to the beach and even brave the sea…
