Waxeye
The little waxeyes were in a frenzy feeding from these Echium flowers, flitting here and there and I just couldn't keep up on manual settings, therefore a dark image.
Its also dark because it was taken as the sun was breaking the horizon, after this vibrant sunrise. This was our view from our cottage looking out over the Pacific Ocean, the sea so cold while the sky so vibrant. Some other shots of the sunrise are:

Rising Sun
Today we ambled along the beach, so many stones and bits of driftwood, explored some rock pools, took many photos and simply read some books - all very casual.
Can anyone help me with the name of this Coastal Flower? There were many at Gore Bay, some quite large plants which the bellbirds and waxeyes enjoyed feeding from. Theres a couple of more photos in my flickr account for more detail of the head which is on very tall spikes.
A great day and a little waxeye as the sun begins to rise for another bright, sunny day at Gore Bay :)
