As Dawn Broke.......
Rolling waves, cold sea breeze, mist hugging the coastline and a colourful sky - my first sunrise at Gore Bay didn't disappoint.
I was thankful to have my jacket, scarf, hat and gloves as I shivered with the cold air of the Pacific Ocean, the colours and light capturing the clouds of this winter rise as I strolled down to the beach. As the sky changed our native birds of bellbirds, tuis and little welcome swallows sent out early morning calls of excitment as they began to feed on nectar flowering plants and insects, there was no frost in this place of beauty.
A little later on people began to wake in this small sleepy settlement. Permanent residents were heading away for work and a small school bus came chugging along to collect a couple of children perhaps taking them to Cheviot as the sun continued to rise into the blue sky making way to a bright sunny day.
Hubby and I returned home for a short while to help Daughter E move to her new flat in the city, so exciting for her and a little sad for us, it was great to head back to Gore Bay instead of being in our quiet house over this time of adjustment, arriving back in time to see a quiet sunset engulfed in lots of sea mist, time to light the fire and cook some warming food as darkness descended.
