Hop Day Morning
It's been a lovely day, after all that rain yesterday! Been dry for the most of the day but showers seem to be starting now in the evening. There was even a glimpse of some sunshine this morning.
Up early this morning and got the washing out on the line. I went into work early, but that was so I could have a walk around Lerwick before work. The day started off quiet in the museum, most folk sleeping after the parties last night. It did start to pick up after 11am and it's been a steady stream of visitors this afternoon. Barbara had a couple of Up Helly Aa tours through the day. It's a public holiday on Hop Day but I seem to pull the short straw every year and have to work. My usual Wednesday, rush home from work and off to work in the pub at 6pm. Thankfully I'll finish at 9pm and rush home to walk Sammy and then get my feet up for the night :)
I love my early morning walk in Lerwick on Hop Day. There's always plenty of sights to see, drunk men dressed up in all sorts, drunk women trying their best to balance on super high stilettos and then tourists looking a bit shocked and surprised at the aftermath of Up Helly Aa. This guys were looking quiet classy for the time of morning, suited up and the bowler hats made me think of a scene from the 1930s. Taken along Commercial Street, Lerwick.
