Galley and Torches
A windy and fairly wet day but there has been a few dryish spells but calmed down a bit and dry for this evening.
I've been working upstairs in the museum office today but have been popping downstairs to see what's been going on. It's once again the busiest day of the year for us with well over 1000 visitors in the building and a visit from the Up Helly Aa Jarl Squad too. I managed to see the Jarl Squad this morning along Da Street and again tonight.
No partying hard for me tonight, I'm off to work and again in the morning.
Up Helly Aa has been a great success this year, as usual and thankfully the rain and wind eased for the procession. The guizers march around some of the streets of Lerwick and then come to the park to burn the galley, that they've taken time and effort to make all year. You can spot Jarl Neil Robertson in the galley, shortly before burning.
