When warmer weather is forecast at this time of the year in Cumbria it means only one thing - rain. A drizzly driech day - in one of the few gaps in the rain I wrapped up in Goretex and headed down towards the stone circle with pooch.
About a mile from home I saw a flash of red run across the road - and recognised the distinctive shape of little Half Tail (seen better here). I last saw him in the garden a couple of weeks ago - but with winter coming he's obviously casting a wider net to find food. I suspect our wood is now at capacity for sustaining a healthy population - so perhaps the little fella is striking out for pastures new - or he could just be busy - squirrel larders have been found which contained over 2000 cones!
Squirrel fact - they have four fingers - but five toes!
