Heading South from Winter
So that's the end of Cairngorm Trip 1 - but back up to the little rental cottage in a week or so - hopefully the warm temperatures & a quick return to winter that's been forecast for the coming weekend will help consolidate the snow pack - the wading of the last ten days has been hard work.
You'd have thought that a 275 mile drive through Scotland and the glorious North would have offered some blip opportunities - but we drove most of the way in really poor conditions. Stopping at Annerdale Water I couldn't help but laugh at these hitch-hiking geese - too lazy to fly South.
When I dropped young Matt in Penrith the sky was turning to blue & the temperature gauge read 6degC - quite remarkable as when we'd set off from from Grantown it was at minus 10degC.
