Rant Warning ................

Our local primary school has a new 'temporary' headmistress.
She got the memo saying Common sense and Initiative have been banned!
The Scottish Government a few years ago came up with a new policy document for education which included bits about children being encouraged to get outside more and get more say in how they are taught and decision making.
This woman has decreed that children go out in all weathers and that they can overrule parents instructions to stay inside - even for health reasons.
Bearing in mind the freezing monsoons we have had recently this is resulting in kids being soaked to the skin almost every day. This is not just primary kids but nursery ones too. One day there were two 3 year olds allowed to crawl about in a huge pool of water in the playground.
Every day there is a queue of parents complaining to the teachers.
Squirrel is not meant to be going out at the moment due to a throat/chest problem but yesterday when she was collected her gym shoes were on the wrong feet and after interrogation  questioning and several denials, she admitted she had gone outside. So not only are the staff undermining parental control but it is encouraging kids to lie in case they get into trouble.
This was the final straw for Bags so she and SWMBO went to see our local councillor (who is also head of the education group) who agreed that this was not sensible or what was meant by the policy document and he would look into it.
When I dropped off Squirrel this morning I once again told a member of staff that she was not to go out because of health concerns and was told that they were not allowed to say No to the kids (which is bollocks - they would be quick enough to say No to them if they started throwing the paint and water around the room) and that the headmistress has been in and reiterated it to the staff before the doors were opened.
I can see the shit really hitting the fan next week.
No wonder we are getting a society where kids are growing up  without ever being told No and expecting to get everything their own way and living by the phrase "I Know My Rights".
