A slice of Lesley's life

By Lesley

Workers of the world, unite!

I'm sure the guys in the background who just stacked that large pile of sunbed cushions and who are carrying them to their night store would be delighted to know that I felt their pain of working in the sun. Though possibly when I was actually working they were sensibly sitting in the shade or siesta'ing. Today was my last two webinars of the summer and officially marks the start of three weeks of no work.*

We are still largely housebound due to the boy's condition. Though again there have been great signs of progress, especially in his spirits. He is having disturbed nights again and quite simply when he doesn't sleep he doesn't function. Nothing for us to do but keep following the programme and keep trying to get a steady pattern. And as much as we may not be doing lots of the usual things we do we are in a beautiful environment with a terrace and a swimming pool. And he is getting outside in the sunlight and getting at least a little exercise every day.

Carl and Anna had a pool session whilst I sweated my way through the two webinars and afterwards we all cooled off in the water. Then,to save us cooking Carl and I headed in to town to collect fresh fish and chips for dinner. We arrived a little early so we took time for a little aperitivo in this beach bar, Digame Pepe.

Home to chase a dog up four steep terraces - neither our land nor our dog have any boundaries (though very almost worth it for the view) and a bit more sweating (sorry for all the sweating references but this is a working blip), before drink in hand and relax on the terrace.

Oh, and today's slightly bizarre news is that I have been accepted as a volunteer to play a casualty in a European wide disaster response team practice mission. All very James Bond I will be collected from a tbc location in central London and transported to the disaster site by river boat which will be filled with make-up artists giving us our wounds. Also next February which now seems a bit full, especially considering its size.

*technically there are a couple of phone calls but as they are with people I view as friends as much as colleagues and for projects I love to work on I'm not counting them.
