Andalsnes

The mythical trolls play a major part in the local mythology and income generation from tourist purchases in the local shops! (No I didn't buy one!!)

Andalsnes is a small alpine fishing village in western Norway (although has “city status”). The main attraction which we saw today is the winding Tollstigen, the road to Geiranger which gives awesome views down Geirangerfjord. The extra picture shows the twisty road and our ship at the far end of the fjord.

This route over the mountain was the route taken by the Norwegian Royal Family when they escaped to Britain from Oslo via Andalsnes at the beginning of the Second World War.
